Skipton Group, the parent of Skipton Building Society, needed a web presence to share press releases, financial results, and raise awareness of the group. With a crowded financial services market, the company also aimed to differentiate itself by commissioning insights into home affordability across UK demographics, which would be promoted to policymakers and regulators via a high-profile PR campaign. The website was critical to both these objectives and had to be ready for a tight PR launch deadline.
The key challenge was ensuring the home affordability tool was properly integrated into a site that could handle significant traffic from national media coverage. Our financial services expertise, combined with knowledge of security and technical integration, allowed us to recommend a stand-alone platform outside the group’s main tech stack, allowing us to develop rapidly, and ensuring we could meet the deadline without performance issues.
We developed a CMS website that integrated the home affordability tool and featured enhanced security to meet the requirements of a financial services business, with the capacity to handle large traffic spikes from the PR campaign.
Upon launch, the site was featured by the BBC, Sky News, ITV, and major newspapers such as The Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sun and The Mirror. Despite heavy traffic, the site performed flawlessly.
We collaborated with Skipton’s internal and external teams, adapting as needed to ensure the project was delivered on time and met all requirements.
The website successfully positioned Skipton Group for future PR campaigns, providing a platform for communication with key stakeholders. The launch surpassed expectations, with over 150 media mentions and recognition in the House of Commons. Feedback from the client was overwhelmingly positive, citing strong engagement across the board. The site will continue to support quarterly PR efforts, further strengthening the Skipton brand.
