Meet Jordan; Creode’s New Designer

Scroll down

In this week’s blog we are introducing Jordan, our new designer at Creode. He comes from the East Riding of Yorkshire having studied Graphic Design at Hull University. He will be working on a broad spectrum of design projects. To name a few; website designs, email marketing campaigns, adversiting & promotional projects and working close with our marketing team. It was a pleasure to sit down and get to know our new colleague, here are the questions we asked him over a hot brew. Yorkshire Tea of course before you ask.

What is your role at creode? Designer, working on the design of the website and branding, so basically making stuff look nice before we pass it over the development team so they can work their magic.

Age? 29 (the big 3-0 is looming).

Experience? Studied Graphic Design in Hull, leaving with a 2:1, following that going straight into employment working for a design & marketing agency called Strawberry. I worked there for a year, primarily working on branding and more print based design projects.

Where do you call home? I’m originally from the East Riding of Yorkshire, a place called Driffield (20 minutes from Hull). I’ve lived in a fair few cities, actually spending 3 years in Leeds when I was younger, so i’ve actually returned to West Yorkshire after 7 years away.

Which University did you attend and what degree did you complete? I studied in Hull at the School of Art & Design, ending up with a 2:1 in BA (Hons) Graphic Design.

What do you like to do in your spare time, any particular hobbies? I play guitar, and all the usual stuff. I enjoy going on walks (at least until I can be bothered to learn to drive) I’m an avid Liverpool fan (to the disgust of some of the others in the studio).

What is the best thing to wake up to in the morning? A coffee & a cigarette (although i’m trying to quit).

Mac or PC? Being a designer I prefer to use a Mac as the usuability meets my needs…although I don’t own an iPhone.

Your favourite design software? Illustrator, although I am experienced with all of the Adobe Creative Suite.

If you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why? Jordan’s Country Crisp (the clue’s in the name).

If you were stranded on an island, which 3 things would you bring and why? A generator, a Macbook, and a Netflix subscription.

What type of music are you into? Varied, and loads, probably the stuff that no one else has heard of (no one would want to listen to). I try to keep my finger on the pulse when it comes to music, I go to gigs regularly (which Leeds is obviously great for) and play guitar myself. I also used to occasionally DJ when I was studying for extra pocket money.

What’s your favourite flavour Jelly Belly? Probably Orange, although i’m sure they all taste the same anyway.

Which celebrity is your fave? Bill Murray, mentalfloss.com/article/54223/6-awesome-things-bill-murray-has-done, what a dude.

What do you like about Creode so far? A completely different approach to what i’m used to within a design & marketing agency. There’s a really good team here and it’s a testament to Creode how quickly i’ve settled in.

Some of Jordan’s work will soon be featured in the Case Studies section. Jordan will also be contributing to the blog regularly so keep checking back to read more of what our new designer has been up to.
