The Drupal 7 End of Life has been postponed 2022

If you're the proud owner of a Drupal 7 website, it's time to celebrate! It was announced today that Drupal Security Team will continue to issue core and contributed module security update for an extra 12 months, due to the impact of Covid-19 on businesses and budgets.

When is Drupal 7's end of life?

Drupal 7 will be extended until 28th November 2022.

What does this mean for my Drupal 7 site?

You still need to be thinking about upgrading from Drupal 7, but the pressure is off for now. With an extra 12 months of security updates you can be sure your website will remain secure whilst you plan your next move. If you'd like to talk to someone about an upgrade, or migrating to a different platform get in touch.

When is Drupal 8's end of life?

Drupal 8's end of life has not been extended and is still scheduled for 2nd November 2021, since the upgrade from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 is much easier and won't have the same impact on business.

Which platform should I move to after Drupal 7?

There's no straightforward answer to that one. The choice of platform will depend on your business, your plans for your website and your budgets. For a lot of people migrating from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9 will be the right choice. For others, WordPress might be the best next step and for other's still, Ibexa's open-source DXP could be the right step.
