2016 – Where have you gone?
Can you believe it’s now November 2016? Where has this year gone?! That memory of last years festive period where our bellies were pushing the boundaries of ‘comfortable’ eating and our minds confidently and defiantly re-focused on a new year with new resolutions all now seems like, well, a distant memory.
Yet we are almost there again, go figure!
So where has time gone?
They say time flies when you are having fun and here at Creode we have been having a lot of fun doing the things that we all love the most.
- Company acquisition with three new owners taking over the business
- Strengthening and growing the agency offering with new digital strategy, project management, and website development staff
- Drupal 7, Drupal 8, Magento 1, Magento 2, WordPress, and Ruby On Rails website development for new and existing clients
- Digital marketing, digital optimisation and digital analytics projects
- Digital creative development and front-end UX analysis resulting in some very successful digital marketing campaigns and website face-lifts that have driven real business impact.
All of us at Creode thought it was about time that we shared some of the output of this ‘busyness’ with you.
Put the kettle on, grab a biscuit or two, make yourself comfortable, and here we go.
#1 – Open Path acquires Creode
Creode started back in 2008 in London and Leeds with the core offering of the agency being web development; specifically Drupal, Magento and Word Press development.
Open Path on the other hand was a Yorkshire based digital agency specialising in UX, Digital Strategy, Digital Marketing and Website Optimisation, and was actively seeking a development partner to fill this development space. So when the opportunity arose to acquire Creode, a credible much respected Drupal, Magento and WordPress development agency based in London and Leeds, it was an obvious and mutually beneficial business decision to make.
The rest as they say is history. Creode and Open Path merged under the Creode name. From the Digital Strategy and Digital Optimisation-UX piece to website development (Drupal, Magento, WordPress), to paid digital marketing management and digital creative development – we are excited that Creode now has a full digital marketing offering for our clients.
#2 – New staff. Stronger Agency. Customer Focused
With the acquisition of Creode, we were very fortunate to buy into a company that already had a fantastic working culture alongside an open vault of digital and web development excellence. To help bolster our customer focussed ethos, streamline our digital project management, expand our web development team and strategic leadership, and give a general boost to our resources, we have brought on a number of new staff.
Creode would like to welcome and introduce the following new staff.
We are very excited to have Si onboard as a Co-owner and Digital Strategy Director @ Creode. Si has recently returned to the UK after 8 years in sunny Sydney and has 12 years experience as a digital marketing professional spanning multiple industry verticals, split 60:40 client:agency side, and both commercially (80%) and within the NFP space (20%).
Si has developed and implemented successful digital acquisition, optimisation, retention, brand, technology, and digital product strategies for brands such as Audi, Setanta Sports APAC, Shelter UK, M&C Saatchi Sydney, Nestle, Optus, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Heineken, Melanoma Institute Australia, and Weber. Si is based in our London office in Aldgate East.
“I am passionate about digital. The accountability it gives, the challenges and opportunities it can create, the endless wrestle between creativity, data, and common sense to reap the best outcome, the ability to test, measure, and optimise; and it’s ever constant and forever rapidly evolving nature.”

Guy has been working in the digital sphere in one way or another since 1998 when he set up an online bookshop. Since then he has worked for a number of agencies, specialising in digital strategy development. Guy has a particular passion for understanding online user behaviours through qualitative and quantitative research and is pretty good with a spreadsheet.
Having founded Open Path in 2012, Guy joined Creode as Managing Director when the agencies merged and now works on the strategic direction of the business as well as contributing to digital strategy development for clients.
“The ever changing digital landscape has always fascinated me and I love getting under the skin of the twists and turns of user behaviour to help clients get the most out of their digital channels.”
Andy was a Co-Owner of Open Path and is now Co-Owner and Creative Director @ Creode. Andy has a wealth of experience in the digital sector, gained while working for some of Yorkshire’s leading agencies.
His main focus is creative and user experience, having worked on projects for DFS, Wren Kitchens, Pure Collection, ScS and Predator Nutrition.
Head of Project Management – At Creode, we manage a lot of complex web development projects, where there are multiple stakeholders and where organisation is paramount to successful delivery. That’s where Julie comes in.

Head of Development – Whether it be Drupal, Magento, or WordPress, website Development remains at the very core of what Creode does. For that reason, it’s essential that the Captain steering the Creode development ship has the knowledge, expertise, experience and objectives focused approach necessary to provide clients with solutions that drive business impact aligned to their objectives.
Gareth’s experience of working in agile environments and crafting software on a variety of e-commerce PHP frameworks with clients ranging from startups to multi-million grossing e-commerce powerhouses. From running daily KanBan stand-ups, managing the development team, to solving technical issues that make others quiver, Gareth is an ideal fit for Creode. “I love working in a vibrant environment, with a happy, motivated and efficient team. I’m focussed on building an ethos of learning, collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst the team.”

Enrique has a wealth of development experience and has experience working on everything from software to control Venezuela’s rail network to Drupal websites. He also knows a thing or two about advanced Google Analytics and Tag Manager customisation.
“I love working at Creode… it’s a friendly team where everyone is keen to learn new skills to stay on top of their game. I’ve been fortunate to work on some fantastic client projects since joining and am looking forward to being part of the agency’s growth.”
Full Stack Web Developer – Minsak recently joined Creode as a full stack developer. Originally from Ghana but living in Yorkshire and able to speak five languages, Minsak studied Computer Forensics at Leeds Beckett University which led him down the path of web development, which he has been doing ever since.
“The Creode team is friendly and the knowledge sharing is amazing which does not only help to develop me but builds the whole team up to keep us on the same page. The work ethos and culture at Creode is different – the vision of the directors is what attracted me to Creode.”
What we have been working on
In the last year we’ve launched a new site to support the brand’s US expansion as well as working on the continuous maintenance and optimisation of their Drupal ecommerce platform.
We’ve also been working on a brand new look and feel for the site… more will be revealed later!
We’ve been working closely with the Fitch Learning marketing team to improve the user experience of their four Drupal websites, implementing new features and functionality, implementing SEO improvements and overhauling their Google Analytics and Tag Manager setups to provide deeper understanding of how users engage with the sites.
Working with the world’s no. 1 fancy dress and costume manufacturer we’ve learnt an awful lot about dressing up in different parts of the world!
After working on digital marketing campaigns for the company’s Fever brand and proving our ability to exceed all ROI expectations, Creode were appointed to manage their global PPC campaigns in June. Once again, we’ve beaten all ROI expectations through our careful management of the campaigns and deep understanding of the ever changing Adwords environment.
Amongst many things, marketers will be familiar with CACI for their nationally renowned ACORN and FRESCO marketing segmentation data products. Creode has been working closely with CACI for a couple of years now with on-going Drupal 7 web development and optimisation of their main corporate website and three of their extranets.
Over the year we’ve taken on a lot of new clients, building new relationships and learning about new businesses. We’ve been working with Livewell to deliver a bespoke Magento 2 website; All Rounder to manage and optimise their premium brand Magento sites and replatform a third brand to Magento; TSG to optimise and redesign their Drupal website; Cognito to deliver a brand new Drupal 8 website and Neom Organics to increase sales through PPC.
